River Forest, Ill. - The Dominican University Department of Athletics announced on Friday that Interim Head Men's Cross Country Coach Carlos Carrillo will transition from his role with the Stars' men's cross country team to take on an active role as an assistant coach with Dominican's nationally recognized men's soccer program. "I'm very thankful for the contributions that Carlos gave to our men's cross country program this past fall," said Erick Baumann, the Director of Athletics at Dominican. "I look forward to his continued assistance within our department and in our men's soccer program." Carrillo took on the role of interim coach of the men's cross country team in mid-September after, then head coach, Travis Brooks resigned from the program. Carrillo helped the Stars to score in each of their final five meets, including the Northern Athletics Conference Championships where the Stars placed ninth out of 12 teams. Colleen Newhart, the Head Women's Cross Country Coach, will take over the men's cross country program in addition to her duties as the women's head coach. |
