Dominican's Haiduc and Garcia Receive Postseason Recognition

River Forest, Ill. - The Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) released the 2007-2008 Men's Basketball Postseason awards with Dominican University's Mike Haiduc (Chicago, IL) receiving All-NAC 2nd Team honors.

Haiduc, a 6'7" senior forward, was the conference's leading shot-blocker with 49 blocks in 18 conference games and ranked eighth in the country with 2.7 blocks per game throughout the season. In NAC play, Haiduc averaged 11.9 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game, ranking in the top 25 in the conference in scoring, rebounding, field goal percentage and blocked shots.

On the year, Haiduc led the Stars in scoring nine times, six times against conference opponents, including a season-high 20-point performance against Rockford College. Haiduc capped his college career ranked seventh on Dominican University's all-time scoring list with 1,317 career points, fifth on the university's all-time rebounding list with 651 total rebounds and first in blocked shots with 198 career blocks.

Dominican's Jose Garcia (Kenosha, WI) received honorable mention for the 2007-2008 NAC All-Conference Team. Garcia was the Stars' leading scorer at 12.8 points per game on the season. Garcia ranked in the top 20 in the conference in scoring, averaging 12.7 points per game in 18 conference games, as well as in three-point field goal percentage (.423) and three-pointers made (41).

On the year, Garcia, a 6'1" guard, scored 333 points finishing his Dominican University career with 691 points in two seasons. Garcia leaves the university as the all-time leading three-point shooter, shooting over 43% from behind the three-point arc with 280 career attempts in 52 games.

Dominican finished with an 11-7 record in the NAC this season, falling to the MSOE Raiders in the first round of the NAC Tournament. Dominican's 14-12 mark overall is the Stars' third consecutive .500 (or better) season, the first time the Stars have accomplished that feat since the late 1980s.
